The Faculty of Animal Husbandry Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held a competition for funding grants for Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) for the 2022 budget year for internal lecturers. This activity is a form of support for the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially community service.
One of the teams that passed the funding was a group of lecturers chaired by Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, consisting of Prof. Djalal Rosyidi, Prof. Nurul Isnaini, Prof. Sri Wahjuningsih, Dr. Mustakim, Dr. Khotibul Umam A., Dr. Herly Evanuarini, Dr. Premy Puspita Rahayu, Dr. Heli Tistiana, and Jaisy A. Putritamara, MP. They provided training on tanning rabbit skins to a breeder association in Batu City, Monday (17/10/2022).
Located at Fauna Jaya Ranch, Jl. Semeru, Kungkuk Hamlet, Punten Village,Bumiaji Sub-District, Batu City, the training was attended by 40 rabbit breeders who are members of the association partners. The training assistants involved five students of Fapet UB class 2019, including Syarif Sulton, Asri Reken Prianti, Dyco Brian Ferary, Vinka Amanda Diva Hartanto, and Erik Anugrah P.
Dedes said the training involving students was aimed at providing knowledge, skills, and experience in tanning rabbit skins. Meanwhile, for livestock groups by participating in the training, it is hoped that they can improve the ability of the correct fur tanning process so that they get quality leather and create entrepreneurial ideas for rabbit leather.
“We hope that this activity will continue not only focusing on tanning the skin but also in terms of reproduction and production as well as rabbit animal feed, processed rabbit meat, product marketing and institutions.” said Dedes (dta/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
