Faculty of Administrative Sciences Universitas Brawijaya (FIA-UB) inaugurates the Achievement Center, Wednesday (10/03/2021). The building in the form of a sports and art arena is built on an area of 830 m2 on the west side of FIA UB. Initially, the grounds used as an outdoor basketball and volleyball court and a closed music studio.
Vice Dean for General Administration and Finance FIA UB, Dr. Hamidah Nayati Utami, M.Si said that this building will be used for activities in the fields of sports as well as arts and culture in order to hone the achievements of students, lecturers, and educational staff. The funds spent to build this building were IDR 10.9 billion and it was built in 150 days.
Hamidah explained that FIA UB Achievement Center consists of three floors, namely the basement floor, the main floor (1st floor), and the mezzanine on the top floor. The basement floor will be used for musical activities such as karawitan, kulintang and other traditional musical instruments. Also a modern music studio, a control room, as well as a car park which is sufficient to accommodate 14 vehicles. The main floor is filled with indoor courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton (three courts), table tennis and futsal. There is also a performance stage, dressing room, washing room and warehouse. Meanwhile, the mezzanine floor is used as a fitness room for lecturers and educational staff.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FIA UB Prof. Dr. Bambang Supriyono, MS said, the construction of this building was driven by the spirit of achieving international accreditation. According to the dean, one of the points that can increase the weight of the assessment in international accreditation is the existence of sports facilities. In addition, he also wants FIA UB students to continue to be enthusiastic about achieving achievements in all sports and other soft skills, besides achievements in the academic field of course.
The Dean thanked all parties involved in the construction of this building, as well as invited guests who watched the online opening ceremony for maintaining health protocols during the pandemic. “I am grateful for the online presence of ladies and gentlemen, including the Vice Rector for Public Administration Prof. Gugus Irianto, as well as deans and vice deans from all over Universitas Brawijaya, as well as the academic community of FIA UB itself, “said the Dean.
The Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR., MS welcomed the construction of this FIA UB Achievement Center. He also praised the name of this building as “Gelanggang Prestasi“. According to him, the name can encourage achievement. “I like the name. This can motivate us to excel, “said the Rector.
The morning ceremony was followed by the signing of the inscription for the new building. Then, the invited guests were invited to tour the building.
