Young Doctors of the Faculty of Medicine Provide Solution to Health Cadres’ Problem in Pakisaji District

Seven young doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Workshop on the Use of Google Forms for midwives and Health cadres in recording and monitoring pregnant women in Pakisaji District as well as refreshing integrated Antenatal Care (ANC) materials. The activity, which was carried out on Saturday (1/2/2025), aimed at providing innovative solutions to improve the accuracy of data collection on the health of pregnant women, which has so far experienced obstacles in reporting.

“We provide innovation to improve the accuracy of data collection related to the health of pregnant women, which has so far been reported in different ways, both manually and via WhatsApp. This causes some data to be at risk of not being reported to the sub-district coordinating midwife,” said M. Iqbal, S.Ked, as a representative of young doctors from the Public Health and Preventive Medicine study, explained.

Through the FGD entitled “Cuantik: Outpouring of the Hearts of Midwives and Cadres”, several obstacles were revealed, including pregnant women who did not come to the health center or integrated health post because they were working or had no one to accompany them during working hours, data collection that was difficult to do at the health center because of the preference of pregnant women to check themselves at the hospital and Sp.OG without bringing a pink book as an integrated medical record, and a migration culture that caused the change of domicile of pregnant women to often not be reported to the local health center, resulting in no supervision.

The FGD was continued with a workshop. In this workshop, the cadres were invited to respond to the innovation of data collection through Google Form. The cadre coordinators who attended from 12 villages in Pakisaji District expressed their appreciation for this program.

“This innovation makes the reporting process easier, and with the creation of a WhatsApp group to support consultations for cadres, Google Form is also not something new and easy to understand the training, compared to applications that must be downloaded,” said one of the cadre coordinators, Basiyah.

In addition, information about this program is also packaged in the form of leaflets and video recordings in a drive that can be accessed sustainably for the long term.

This program is also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGS 3, SDGS9, and SDGS17.

This program not only provides technical solutions in data collection, but also provides education and training to midwives and health cadres. Thus, it is hoped that a more integrated and accurate reporting system can be created, so that maternal health data can be recorded properly and used to evaluate the effectiveness of maternal and child health programs.

This activity was attended by seven young doctors, namely Maura Maharani, S.Ked. , Fianisa Meinda, S.Ked., Arinal Haq, S.Ked., Aliyah Faiza, S.Ked., Putri Rachma, S.Ked., Ahmad Zaki, and M. Iqbal, S.Ked. They were guided by dr. Ayunda Dewi Jayanti J. P, M.Sc and supported by the Head of Pakisaji Health Center, dr. Yulia Rachmawati and dr. Qonitatul Fitriyah as the Person in Charge of Cluster 2 Maternal and Child Health. In addition, the Coordinating Midwife of Pakisaji District, Midwife Ayu Wahyu R, S.Tr.Keb, also attended this activity.

On this occasion, the “Poly Afternoon USG by Appointment” program was also announced to increase antenatal visits while also overcoming the obstacles of pregnant women who are unable to check themselves during working hours in Pakisaji District. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
