DOKAR FMIPA Establishes International Collaboration with Kanazawa University

The Lecturer Works (DOKAR) Team of the Undergraduate Actuarial Science Study Program (PSIA), Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has visited Kanazawa University, Japan, on Wednesday (2/10). The team consists of four people, namely the Dean of FMIPA UB (Associate Prof. Ratno Bagus Edy Wibowo, S.Si, M.Si, Ph.D), the Chief Executive of the PSIA Dokar, Department of Mathematics and also the Head of the Computer and Data Science Laboratory (Syaiful Anam, S.Si., M.T., Ph.D), Member of the PSIA DOKAR Team of the Mathematics Department and also the Head of the Analysis Laboratory (Corina Karim, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D) and Member of the PSIA DOKAR Team of the Mathematics Department and also the Head of the Industrial and Financial Mathematics Laboratory (Kwardiniya Andawanintrys, S.Si., M.Si.). The main objective of this DOKAR program is to strengthen international collaboration, especially in the field of curriculum and to open up new opportunities for collaboration in the fields of research and education. Through the curriculum benchmarking at Kanazawa University, PSIA can explore and identify possible collaborations in the fields of Education and research between Actuarial Science, Universitas Brawijaya and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Kanazawa University.

The meeting was held in the Natural Science and Technology Main Hall, G1F, reception room (応接室) and was attended by the Undergraduate of Actuarial Science Dokar team, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Institute of Physics and Engineering, Kanawaza University, namely Prof. Masuyuki Sato, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Physics, Kanawaza University, namely Prof. Hiroshi Ohtsuka, members of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Institute of Physics and Engineering, Kanawaza University, namely Prof. Masato Kimura and Prof. Hirofumi Notsu. The Dean of FMIPA UB at this meeting introduced Universitas Brawijaya, the Faculty of MIPA UB, the Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science Study Program and conveyed the purpose of the DOKAR PSIA Team’s visit to Kanazawa University. Furthermore, at this meeting, Kanazawa University introduced the School of Mathematics and Physics in the College of Science and Engineering and the Division of Mathematical and Physical Science in the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology. The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Institute of Physics and Engineering, Kanawaza University offers several interesting programs, namely joint scientific meeting activities for final project students, joint research and publications, and international student exchanges for both degree and non-degree programs.

After this meeting, it is hoped that concrete steps can be taken to create joint activities between Kanazawa University and PSIA UB in curriculum collaboration, research, scientific meetings and student exchanges. The impact of these joint activities is the achievement of international quality standards for the PSIA curriculum, increased international cooperation, increased number of international publications, increased staff capabilities in the quantity and quality of research, and the realization of the student exchange program (SYA).
