Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held four international seminars in 2022 that were conducted online, offline, and hybrid from November 5 to 12, 2022.
The first seminar, the International Conference on Language, Literary, and Cultural Studies (ICON LATERALS) III was held from November 5 to 6, 2022. Followed by, the International Conference on Advances in Humanities, Education, and Language (ICEL) II was held from November 7 to 8 2022.
The following day, the International Seminar on Cultural Sciences (ISCS) II was held from 9 to 10 November 2022. The International Conference on Language, Literature, Education, and Culture (ICOLLEC) II was held from 11 to 12 November 2022.
General Chairperson of the International Conference of the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Dr. Dany Ardhian, M. Hum., explained that the implementation of these four international seminars aims for UB internationalization, especially FCS UB, and makes the international seminars an encouragement in fulfilling the Key Performance Indicators or Indikator Kinerja Utama (IKU).
“FCS tries to hold a seminar with lecturers, education staff, and students as the committee to strengthen their experiences in organizing international seminars. The publication of articles from the seminar is accommodated in the international proceedings of the well-known European Alliance for Innovation (EAI). In addition, the committee also cooperates with Scopus-indexed journals, several Sinta 2 indexed journals, FCS UB’s journals, and book chapters in UB Press,” he said.
To accommodate the MBKM curriculum, students are allowed to convert theses through participation as presenters in international seminars. This international seminar was attended by 340 participants from eleven countries. They were from Indonesia, India, Malaysia, the USA, Australia, Pakistan, Japan, China, England, Norway, and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FCS UB, Hamamah Ph.D., revealed that holding four international seminars of FCS UB has received an extraordinary response. Many enthusiasts attend each seminar from various countries.
“This international seminar activity at FCS UB gets a good response and we work on this committee one way, while we get four seminars. So I hope it can be held continuously next year,” she explained.
UB’s Rector, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.Med.Sc., conveyed a message through the Vice-Rector for Finance and Resources, Prof. Drs. Gugus Irianto, MSA., Ph.D., Ak., “We hope that this series of international seminar activities can produce critical, sharp, and innovative thoughts in the fields of language, literature, art, and culture.” [dts]
