The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya (FP UB) celebrated its 64th Anniversary with a series of lively events. One of them is the Feast of Agriculture (FoA) Sekaten Making and Alumni Gathering Talkshow entitled “Future World of Work: Opportunities, Challenges, and Projections”. This event was held on Saturday, (11/9/2024), at the Central Building 1.3 FP UB and involved collaboration between lecturers and students.
Sekaten held at FP UB is a symbol of gratitude by arranging food products such as corn and vegetables to form like mountain or called as gunungang. This tradition will be exhibited at the peak of the Anniversary on Sunday, (11/10/2024).
“This is our way as agricultural students to express our gratitude for FP UB’s 64-year journey,” said Leony.
In the Alumni Gathering, a Talkshow was held with the theme “Alumni Talks: Career and Business Outlook for 2025 and Beyond” in the Seminar Room of the Central Building 1.1 FP UB. This event was filled by speakers Mia Kunto (Agribusiness, 1994) and Wirastanto (Soil, 1994). The Alumni Gathering consisted of a series of events starting with a speech from the Dean of FP, Prof. Mangku Purnomo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. and a joint prayer by Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Latief Abadi, M.S. continued with an executive meeting, talk show, seminar, entertainment, games, and gala dinner.
Prof. Mangku Purnomo as the Dean of FP UB in his speech said that currently FP has experienced extraordinary development.
“FP is building a facility that can accommodate 400 people which, InshaAllah, we have finished the building,” explained Prof. Mangku Purnomo in one of the excerpts from the speech at the Alumni Gathering.
According to Leony, this celebration is not only a nostalgia event for alumni, but also a momentum to increase social awareness among students.
“With the series of charities, it is also expected to build a sense of gratitude and increase solidarity. We never know, maybe our friends are in trouble,” she said.
The head of the student committee, Leony Risca, explained that this event was designed not only to celebrate the anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture, but also to strengthen togetherness among the academic community.
“The goal is to bring all students of the Faculty of Agriculture closer together, while increasing social interaction through useful activities,” said Leony.
The Faculty of Agriculture’s Anniversry was also filled with charity activities consisting of three Tanishare programs, which sold preloved items from FP students; Harmony for Humanity, which is a live music event whose proceeds are donated; and Eco Charity, a collection of practical materials (laprak) to be sold.
“All proceeds from sales of this charity activity will be donated back to students in need. The concept is from students for students,” added Leony. “This charity activity is in collaboration with the Semangat Karya scholarship program from the Ministry of advocacy and students welfare of BEM FP UB, while the Ministry of Culture and Youth BEM FP is the main implementer,” said Leony.
