
The United States Consulate General in Surabaya visited the Directorate of Business Innovation and Incubation, Universitas Brawijaya (DI2B UB), Friday (31/03/2023). The visit was represented by Deputy Public Affairs Officer Wouter Housen, Cultural Affairs Specialist Esti Durahsanti, and Cultural Affairs Assistant Puguh Budi Susetiyo.
Wouter Housen said that the US Consul General’s visit was to get to know UB better, and to have a closer look at various innovative products and patents produced by UB.
Puguh Budi Susetiyo added, this visit was related to the number of UB students or graduates who passed the U.S. Embassy student exchange program which is YSEALI.
“We really appreciate UB as one of the universities with the most participants passing the YSEALI Academic Fellowship Program in each batch. And the average project they make is a continuation of a project in college. So, we really appreciate the continuity in the lecture program and the output that is carried out after the lecture,” said Puguh.
DI2B Director, Mohammad Iqbal, S.Sos., M.I.B., DBA welcomed this visit. He hopes that in the future there can be collaborations related to innovation, as well as downstream innovation and patent results in UB.
In addition, the Head of the Center for IPR, Dias Satria, S.E., M.App.Ec., Ph.D said that in the near future, there will be an innovation gathering, namely a gathering of UB innovators by inviting the US Consul General.
“We hope that there will be representatives of the Consul General who will provide sharing regarding lessons learned on innovation and business incubation in the US,” said Dias.
At the end of the event, the Chairperson of the Business Incubation Center, Inggang Perwangsa Nuralam, S.E., MBA., Ph.D hopes that the programs that have been designed by DI2B can collaborate with the US Consul General.
