Seketi Cantik Village Form the Department of Statistics

Lecturers and students of the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Brawijaya carried out community service activities by holding the “Seketi Cantik Village Program” or “Seketi Village Loves Statistics in Kediri Regency. The team was led by Dr. Dra. Ani Budi Astuti, M.Si. with lecturers Prof. Dr. Ir. Henny Pramoedyo, MS., Dr. Eni Sumarminingsih, S.Si., MM., and involving several students from the Department of Statistics at the Undergraduate of Statistics and Data Science and Master of Statistics levels, namely Diana Cahyani Rizky, Mochammad Haidar Ali, Agustina Susi Susanti Parung, and Dimas Setyo Adi Nugroho, carried out various educational activities and training also mentoring.

“This activity is an effort by the University to support village development through data-based community empowerment. The “Seketi Cantik Village” program is designed to improve the understanding of village officials and villagers about the importance of statistical data in village planning and decision-making,” said Ani. She delivered it at the Village Apparatus and Community Competency Improvement activity in Strengthening Literacy in the Management and Utilization of Village Sectoral Statistical Data, Monday (12/8/2024) at the Seketi Village Hall, Ngadiluwih District, Kediri Regency, East Java.

During the training session, tutorials and mentoring were carried out on data management, basic statistical analysis, and data applications in important sectors, such as village potential data, education, agriculture, and health. Village officials and villagers related to data management were introduced to simple but effective statistical methods, which can be directly applied to improve resource management and village development planning using applications commonly used by the community, namely Microsoft Excel by utilizing the Pivot Table, Pivot Chart, and Regression Analysis features for data management, management, and data analysis.

“This program aims to educate the officials and the community of Seketi Village on how statistical data can be used to solve various village problems and plan better development,” she said.

In addition to training, activities also include direct assistance in the field to help officials and villagers implement the techniques that have been learned. The community service team also prepared a practical guide (training module) that can be used by officials and the community to continue data management after this activity ends.

The activities carried out received a positive response from the officials and the community of Seketi Village. The Head of Seketi Village, Basori, expressed his gratitude for this initiative.
