Department of Water Resources Engineering FT UB Invites Lecturer from the Netherlands to Explain Climatescan.org Material

The Department of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB), held an international academic activity by presenting Dr. Ir. F.C. (Floris) Boogaard from Hanzehogeschool Groningen – University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands. In this guest lecture, Dr. Boogaard delivered material entitled “Climatescan.org Management Techniques, Screening, and Security”.

The activity which took place on Tuesday (14/1/2025) was held at the Department of Water Resources Engineering Building and was attended by students, lecturers in the field of water resources engineering. In his remarks, the Head of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, Dr. Ir. Runi Asmaranto, ST., MT., IPM., ASEAN Eng., conveyed the importance of this guest lectures to expand international insights and networks.

“We hope that through this activity, lecturers and students can understand the latest innovations in water management techniques, especially those related to the climatescan.org platform,” he explained.

Dr. Floris Boogaard, an expert in sustainable water management, explained how the climatescan.org platform can be used to support water management projects in various parts of the world. Climatescan.org is an interactive platform that allows users to share information about sustainable solutions in the field of water management. With open data, Climatescan.org can find out water quality.

In addition, Dr. Boogaard also provided an explanation of screening and security techniques in the context of water resource management. He emphasized the importance of technology in mitigating risks to water infrastructure, including security threats and the impacts of climate change.

This activity received high enthusiasm from the participants. In the discussion session, students and lecturers had the opportunity to ask Dr. Boogaard directly about the implementation of the climatescan.org platform in Indonesia. This guest lecture ended with the handover of souvenirs by the Department of Water Resources Engineering to Dr. Floris Boogaard as a form of appreciation for his contribution in sharing knowledge and experience.

Through similar activities, FT shows its commitment in improving the quality of education and research in the field of water resources engineering, while building collaboration with international institutions to answer global challenges in the field of water resources management.
