The Department of Communication Science, Brawijaya University conducted a judiciary for 52 students, Thursday (18/1/2024). Interestingly, the majority of those who already legally hold a bachelor’s degree graduate in just 3.5 years.

Head of UB Communication Science Department, Prof. Rachmat Kriyantono S.Sos., M.Sc., Ph.D, revealed that his party had succeeded in making the students’ study period faster because of the proposal seminar course.

“Yes, Communication does have an acceleration program or what is called shortening the study period and thank God, one of the mechanisms is to use proposal seminar courses, since usually proposal seminars stand alone, not as courses,” he said.

The man who is familiarly called Prof RK revealed that the graduation rate for Communication Science students has also increased compared to last year.

“So in the last year, for example the 2019 batch, the number of students who took the seminar exam was still less than the 2020 batch who took the seminar exam. The increase is quite significant, this is indeed our hope,” he explained.

From the records of the Department of Communication Science, 30% of those who conducted their graduation this Thursday completed 3.5 years. Then 38% graduate within 4 years.

“This means that in total, 68 percent passed according to the study period, so the rest is 5 and 6 years. “Thank God, none of them are 7 years old,” continued Prof. RK.

The average study period of 3.5 years means that UB Communication Science Department is also able to reduce the average time for students to graduate. Initially from 5.2 years to 4.8 years.

“So we are targeting the average graduation rate on campus to be four years, and recently it was still 4.8 years, but this has increased drastically since it was 5.2 years previously,” he said.

Therefore, Prof. RK especially thanked the 52 Communication Science students who underwent their graduation today. The Department of Communication Science also plans to award the best graduate degree to students who are able to graduate with the best grades and the fastest study period. (*/oky/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
