Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya held an international seminar in the field of plant protection in hybrid manner on Wednesday (25/1/2022) with the theme “Recent Research and Advancement in Integrated Management of Plant Pest and Disease”.
This seminar was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir Damanhuri, MS and Indonesian Deputy Ambassador in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, Arief Hidayat.
In his remarks, Dr. Damanhuri said that by holding an international seminar this time, it is hoped that it can broaden insights in the field of plant protection and be the start of collaboration between Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and King Saud University (KSU).
Arief Hidayat hopes that the results of this seminar will also contribute to the global issue of food security. Besides that, the cooperation between UB and KSU is expected to play an important role in the cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
This international seminar was attended by speakers from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, namely Prof. Muhammad Ali Al-Saleh, Prof. Yasser Eid Ibrahim, Prof. Abdurrahman Saad Aldawood and Dr. Akhmad Rizali SP., M.Si from Universitas Brawijaya.
This activity was held in a hybrid manner with 275 participants and 50 participants joining offline.
Material about plant viruses was explained by Prof. Muhammad Ali Al-Saleh, Prof. Yasser Eid Ibrahim gave a presentation on bacteria that cause plant diseases by Prof. Abdurrahman Saad Aldawood who gave a presentation on integrated pest control and the diversity of insects in agroecosystems and material on agroecosystem management by Dr. Ahmad Rizal.
