Dean of FILKOM Officially Announces the Kick Off KKN

The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya officially opens the KKN Filkom UB Kick Off event, Tuesday (3/8/2021). Since it is still in a pandemic atmosphere, KKN activities are carried out online to protect the students’ health and safety also the public from COVID-19 transmission.

The Kick Off event was carried out through online zoom which was opened by the Dean followed by remarks by the Head of Poncokusumo Sub-district, Malang Regency. Interestingly, although this KKN was conducted online, it was enthusiastically attended by 621 participants which was divided into 62 groups accompanied by 32 field supervisors who went directly to 14 location points in 7 City Districts and Malang Regency, of course.

Operational activities will be carried out from 26 July to 25 September 2021.

Real Work Lecture (KKN) at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya, is a community service activity held as a form of student service to solve problems that occur in the community. In accordance with the theme “IT For Better Live”, FILKOM Community Service Program aims to present technology in the community as a solution to some existing problems with the hope of creating a better life with technology.

In his remarks, the Dean of Filkom, Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, S.Si., MT., Ph.D. said that this year’s FILKOM KKN is the first KKN activity that is required for FILKOM students. At the previous, KKN was conducted together with the University and was optional. FILKOM has implemented KKN in the midst of a pandemic this year, hence FILKOM KKN is carried out in a Hybrid (limited online and offline), Wayan said.

He hopes that FILKOM’s contribution through student KKN can provide direct benefits to the community and local government.

Many KKN activities based on technology can be carried out even though they are online, such as education on the spreading of HOAX, empowering MSMEs with technology and many other things that can be done by students through KKN activities. At the end of his remarks, Wayan congratulated FILKOM students in participating in KKN activities, and symbolically inaugurated the 2021 FILKOM KKN.

Furthermore, Marendra Hengky Irawan, S.STP., M.AP as the Head of Poncokusumo District also expressed his gratitude for Filkom’s visit to Poncokusumo in helping the community to be aware of the use of technology. Of course, the sub-district will fully support the programs that will be carried out by students and Filkom lecturers so that they become advancement in the Poncokusumo area, said Marendra. Dawuhan Village, Poncokusumo District, became one of FILKOM student KKN destinations, in addition to the other locations, namely Ngijo Village, Karangploso District, Randuagung Village, Tamanharjo and Dengkol Villages in Singosari District, and Sitirejo Village, Wagir District in Malang Regency.

In addition, there is a KKN location in Malang City, namely Lowokwaru District which consists of 6 Villages. Finally, the acceptance of KKN of Filkom students was symbolically carried out by the Head of Dawuhan Village, Saiful Arifin, SE.(drn/ln/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
