Chilyah Auliya, a student of Information Technology Study Program, Vocational Faculty, has won 1st Place in the Outstanding Student Selection (PILMAPRES) Diploma Category of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) 2025. This award was received on Thursday (02/13/2025), at the 6th Floor of the Rectorate Building, after the final round which brought together seven finalists from undergraduate and diploma levels.
The journey of the girl who is familiarly called Hilya began by participating in the faculty selection which included collecting championship certificate files (excellent achievements), presenting innovative products, and a question and answer session. From more than 40 applicants at the Vocational Faculty, Hilya was selected as the best 1 of Information Technology study program and the best 1 Faculty with 5 other achieved students.
Furthermore, through the assessment of innovative products and English-language videos, Hilya was declared as a finalist with one student from the Vocational Faculty and five undergraduate achieved students from other faculties.

In the final round, Hilya presented a self-description and creative ideas in English and Indonesian, and answered questions from the judges, namely UB professors and lecturers, consisting of: Inggita Kusumastuty, S.Gz., M.Biomed, Prof. Dr. Aulanni’am, drh., DES, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elok Zubaidah, MP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anik Martinah Hariyati, M.Sc, Ulifa Rahma, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist, Mochamad Andhy Nurmansyah S.S., M.Hum, and Syariful Muttaqin, M.A., Ph.D.
“So Grateful and full of emotion. I tried to join PILMAPRES with the mindset to fulfill my curiosity whether this would be my fortune or not. It’s that simple. So if I win, thank God, if I lose, it means it’s someone else’s fortune,” said this student from Pasuruan.
One of the challenges she faced was while presenting an Innovative Product, so it was not recommended to just present an idea. This is what makes it different from PILMAPRES at the undergraduate level.
“The product I carried was related to a platform that focuses on strengthening SDGs point 4, so it takes a lot of time. That is also a challenge in itself with the short distance between the announcement and the next stage,” she said.

Previously, Hilya has made various achievements. There are 1st Place in Speech RKIMCUP UB, 2nd Place in Student Poetry Reading Art Week, 3rd Place in Indonesian Vocational Olympiad in Applied Health of Science category, Gold Medal National Economic Competition, Silver Medal KRI in Scientific Paper Category, Finalist of Brawijaya International Scientific Writing. Other valuable experiences that Hilya has gained include being invited as a Journalist at the CNN Indonesia Award, Journalist at GRAB X Narasi, invited by GOTO in the Young Dialogue as a representative of RKIM UB regarding the ideas of young patriots in forming future jobs, and collaborating with Kompas in creating a book for United Tractors.
Next, Hilya will compete in the regional PILMAPRES. Currently, she is preparing an innovative product script and developing the platform that was created. “Hopefully I will continue to work, have an impact, inspire my friends to achieve too. Hopefully UB, especially Vocational Faculty, will continue to be a place that fits the potential of its students,” she concluded. [Irene/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
