Lecturer at the Department of Communication Sciences, FISIP, Universitas Brawijaya, Dr Akhmad Muwafik Saleh S.Sos., M.Si, became speaker on Eid al-Adha, last Monday (17/6/2024) in Kuala Kencana Timika Papua, a city built by Freeport. How’s the story?
Akhmad Muwafik admitted that he was in Kuala Kencana fulfilling several agendas. First, Sunday (16/6/2024) he filled in a tabligh akbar and book review of Bekerja dengan Hati at the Kuala Kencana Multipurposes Building, Papua.
“The book Bekerja dengan Hati (Working with Conscience) is deliberately presented to readers so that they can better understand the way we work so that it becomes work of worship,” he said when he was a speaker attended by hundreds of participants.
Activities continue on Sunday evening. This man who was born in Sumenep Regency then took part in the traveling takbir held in Kuala Kencana. He admitted that he was amazed by this agenda which indicated the high level of tolerance between religious communities in Kuala Kencana.
During Eid al-Adha prayers, Akhmad Muwafik Saleh was appointed as Imam and Khotib at the Baitturahim Kuala Kencana Mosque, Timika, Papua. In his lecture, this lecturer specializing in Public Relations assessed that the Feast of Sacrifice or Eid al-Adha is one of the big days or holidays in the Muslim tradition.
“The holiday that confirms the peak of perfection of Islamic teachings is the Hajj pilgrimage carried out by Muslims,” he said.
According to Muwafik, the Eid al-Adha that is carried out contains great and deep learning values. Eid al-Adha implies at least three dimensions of learning, namely the first dimension of learning about the importance of family building as a basis for building society as depicted and inspired by the story of Nabiyallah Ibrahim and his family.
“The two dimensions of life’s principle values are sacrifice and caring as the basis for building society through the message of slaughtering sacrificial animals. And the third is the dimension of change towards goodness through the message of the Hajj,” he said.
The agenda of the former Deputy Dean for Student Affairs at FISIP does not stop at just being a preacher. He then continued his preaching at the Muallaf Village in Pomako Cendrawasih, East Mimika District, Mimika Regency, Papua.
“There are 300 people converts to Islam in this village,” he said. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
