In order to eliminate stunting problems, Universitas Brawijaya through the Faculty of Health Sciences dispatched 100 students to several villages in Malang Regency. The release ceremony was held on Wednesday morning (21/09/2022) in the lobby of UB Rectorate.
The Dean of FIKES UB, Prof. Dian Handayani, S.KM., M.Kes, Ph.D said that FIKES UB students will carry out stunting programs in several villages and regions for 1 month. “This activity is indeed a joint activity, where lecturers and students participate in proposing a matching fund program. One of the funding for this activity is from a matching fund which is also known as the Golden Village of stunting program”. said Prof. Dian Handayani, S.KM., M.Kes, Ph.D
“We hope further, this activity will run smoothly and later the students will be escorted by lecturers from the community nutrition specialization,” said the professor in the field of nutrition science.
Releasing the students, Rector invited them to apply knowledge during lectures. “The most important thing for students and teachers is to understand the community’s problems. If you know the problem, you can do something, do something based on the knowledge you have gained. With that, I hope that the existence of the students can be felt and useful for the community.” said the Rector.
“This is part of learning for students to study. So, the knowledge given by the lecturers can be applied in the community”. He concluded
The Independent Learning Independent Campus Activity of the Cares Stunting in Golden Village will last until the 2nd week of November. 100 FIKES students will be distributed in several sub-districts such as Pujon, Gondanglegi, Singosari and Ngajum, and is a form of UB’s contribution in strengthening the convergence of 5 pillars in an effort to accelerate stunting reduction efforts.
