BKBH FH UB Holds Socialization to Prevent Domestic Violence at PT Penamas Nusa Prima

The Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University (FH UB) held community service activities through the Legal Assistance and Consultation Agency (BKBH) at PT Penamas Nusa Prima on (21/3/2024).

The event with the theme “Socialization of the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Legal Assistance Mechanisms through BKBH” is a concrete step in expanding public understanding to the issue of domestic violence and providing access to appropriate legal assistance.

FH Representative,Ikaningtyas, SH., LLM, in his speech said that domestic violence is a serious problem that affects many families in society.

“The category of domestic violence is not only limited to physical acts, but also includes psychological, economic and sexual violence,” said Ikaningtyas.

He added that it is important for the public to understand the laws and regulations related to domestic violence so that they can take appropriate steps when similar cases occur.

FH instructor and lecturer, Yasniar Rachmawati Madjid, S.H., M.H, who explained in detail various laws and regulations dealing with domestic violence, such as Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence. Yasniar also provided an explanation of the rights of domestic violence victims and the mechanisms available to obtain legal assistance through BKBH.

“When a domestic violence case occurs, the first step that must be taken is to report the incident to the authorities, such as the police or the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Service,” explained Mrs. Yasniar.

“In addition, victims can also ask for legal assistance through BKBH to get protection and assistance during the legal process,” he added.

This activity, which was attended by 30 representatives of employees and administrators from PT Penamas Nusa Prima, responded positively to the information conveyed by Mrs. Ikaningtyas. They consider that this outreach is very important to increase public awareness about the importance of preventing and dealing with domestic violence.

By this activity, it is hoped that the community will be more sensitive to the domestic violence issue and can take appropriate steps to protect themselves and their family members from acts of violence. The Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University is committed to continue and  support the efforts to prevent and deal with domestic violence in order to create a safe and harmonious environment for all.

With the spirit of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through community service, the Faculty of Law through BKBH will continue to carry out routine counseling programs to increase legal awareness and legal assistance in the community. (Rma/FH PR/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
