The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) held a breaking fast together activity at the Algorithm Auditorium, FILKOM UB. The activity was carried out on Friday (14/03/2025), attended by FILKOM UB big family, lecturers, education staff, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) and representatives of student organizations. This breaking fast together is a series of activities for Ramadhan 1446 Hijriah at FILKOM. The event was opened with the recitation of the holy verses of the Qur’an, Surah Al Baqarah verses 185-186, by tilawah Suryo (’21-SI) and saritilawah Hafidz Ghaza (’22-SI). The next agenda was the speech from the dean of FILKOM UB, Prof. Ir. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, S.Si., M.T., Ph.D. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the committee of the Ramadhan 1446 H. activity, amidst the dense activities at FILKOM, for being able to hold breaking the fast together activity which becomes FILKOM characteristic every Ramadhan.

On this occasion, the Ramadhan study before breaking the fast was delivered by Ustadz Mokhamad Rohma Rozikin S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer in charge of Islamic religion from the Student Personality Development Technical Implementation Unit (UPTPK) UB. The study was themed Illuminating the Family with the Quran in the Month of Ramadhan. In this study, he said that reading the Quran is not only a source of light, but is also one of the deeds that can strengthen a person’s faith.
“The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allah, then for him one good thing, and that one good thing is multiplied tenfold. I am not saying that ‘alif lam mim’ is one letter, but alif one letter, lam one letter, and mim one letter. So that this practice of reading the Qur’an is accepted and rewarded by Allah SWT, we need to set our intentions when reading the Qur’an. Our intentions must be sincere, sincere in “Reading the Qur’an only because of Allah SWT. Reading the Koran should not be done to show off to other people,” he said.
He added that we are lucky to be the people of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, because the Al-Qur’an is the greatest and eternal miracle given by Allah SWT to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Reading the Qur’an not only brings rewards in this world but also becomes a help in the afterlife. Reading the Qur’an every day brings blessings in life and ease in all matters. (rr/ UB PR/ Trans.
