Bringing 8 Medals, UB Increases Ranking in PIMNAS 2024

The Universitas Brawijaya (UB) contingent successfully brought home eight medals in the National Student Scientific Week Competition (PIMNAS) XXXVII which was held for six days (14/10-19/10/2024) at Arilangga University, Surabaya.

The medal acquisition at PIMNAS XXXVII placed UB in fourth place among medal-winning universities.

Head of UB Contingent, Inggita Kusumastuty, S.Gz, M.Biomed said that this increase in position is a sign of the revival of Universitas Brawijaya in this prestigious national scientific week.

“Thanks for the dedication and struggle, the UB contingent managed to win 3 gold medals, 4 bronze medals, and 1 silver medal,” she said.

Inggita Kusumastuty, S.Gz, M.Biomed admitted that she was grateful for this achievement since UB had previously targeted to enter the top 5.

She added that to achieve this target, the contingent had been extra accompanied for a long time and continued to practice until the day of PIMNAS.

“Based on the experience in 2023, we have done a lot of evaluations. This year, we have carried out various stages of assistance to be able to oversee UB contingent. Until D-1 of departure, even on the day of implementation, they continued to practice,” said Inggita.

Inggita added that UB’s achievements at PIMNAS this year will be continuously evaluated and will begin preparations for PIMNAS 2025.

The PKM Advisory Team, Abu Bakar Sambah admitted that they really appreciate the commitment of all team members. He hopes that the achievements obtained at PIMNAS 2024 will be a motivation for other students.

“We are very proud of this achievement. This achievement is the result of hard work and commitment from the entire team who have tried hard to prepare themselves. We hope this will motivate all students to continue to work and innovate,” he said.

The following are the medals won at PIMNAS XXXVII, namely Three Gold Medals each won by PKMKC: Early Detection Tool for Secondary Caries in Dental Restoration Using Transillumination Method and Three-Dimensional Imaging Based on Computer Vision; PKMPM with the title Optimization of Digital Skills Training for Inmates of Class 1 Malang Penitentiary as an Effort to Improve Post-Release Work; and PKMRSH: Analysis of the Effectiveness of Cognitive Tactile Paving in Urban Areas with Electroencephalography (EEG) and Functional Near-infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) in Blind

Four bronze medals won by PKMKC: Early Detection Tool for Atherosclerosis to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease Based on Machine Learning Integrated with the Internet of Things; PKMKC: Agricultural Crop Recommendation System Based on Remote Sensing and Machine Learning with Sentinel-2A Satellite Imagery Data Based on Soil Characteristics; PKMKI: PostureCare: Child Postural Kyphosis Therapy with an Internet of Things-Based Spinal Ergonomic Error Monitoring and Detection System; and PKMRE: The Effect of Folate Administration from Fermented Cabbage Extract (Brassica oleracea) on the Body Length of Zebrafish Larvae in a Stunting Model with Rotenone Induction

One Silver Medal at PKMKC: Quantum Dots-Based Early Detection Tool for Bladder Cancer with Integrated Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer Application Programming Interface Fuzzy Logic Classification.

In addition to winning medals, at PIMNAS XXXVII, UB contingent also won the title of talented student on behalf of Desta Adelia from the Economics, Finance, and Banking Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). (ROM/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
