The Agricultural Industrial Technology Student Association (HIMATITAN) 2024 held the Bina Desa 2024 activity which took place on Saturday (10/5/2024) to improve the knowledge and skills of residents in processing organic and inorganic waste.
SDN Jatisari, Tajinan District, was chosen as one of the locations for the community service activity because the students were less motivated in carrying out learning so that practical learning was needed to increase students’ awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness and knowing the difference between organic and inorganic waste.
“With these problems, the Bina Desa 2024 Team carried out activities at SDN Jatisari, Tajinan District to help elementary school students learn the importance of maintaining cleanliness and knowing the difference between organic and inorganic waste,” said the Chief Executive, Delsy Leona.
This activity was carried out through a series of activities from education, creative activities, playing together, and closed with souvenirs distribution.
In addition to educate the importance of cleanliness and sorting organic and inorganic waste, the activity was also filled with creativity in the form of making crafts from plastic bottle waste into pencil cases that can be used every day in the classroom. Playing together with students was also carried out to create togetherness and happiness between the committee and students of Jatisari Elementary School.
“We hope that the 2024 Bina Desa activity can have a positive impact on students of Jatisari Elementary School. Hopefully, through education about cleanliness and waste sorting, students will not only understand the importance of protecting the environment, but will also be motivated to apply these values in their daily lives,” said Mrs. Misti’ah S.Pd. as the Principal of Jatisari Elementary School when giving her speech.
Bina desa is one of the work programs under the auspices of the HIMATITAN Community Service and Relations Division. Bina desa is also one of the work programs that will later be in the form of community service activities for HIMATITAN fostered villages to support the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Village Development Series at Jatisari Elementary School focuses on the importance of cleanliness and sorting organic and inorganic waste. Providing education on the importance of cleanliness and sorting organic and inorganic waste is expected to increase awareness among Jatisari Elementary School students about the importance of cleanliness as well as sorting and processing types of waste for the sustainability and welfare of Jatisari Village.
“Providing education in the form of the importance of cleanliness is expected to remind students again about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and sorting organic and inorganic waste with the output of the activity in the form of pencil box creations from used bottles and waste sorting poster creations,” said Delsy Leona.
