The Agency of Amil Zakat Infaq and Sodaqoh (BAZIS UB) provides assistance for the victims of Mount Semeru Eruption in Lumajang, Monday (06/12/2021). The assistance was given directly by eight volunteers of BAZIZ UB.
The Director of BAZIZ UB, Prof. Imam Santoso, M.P conveyed that BAZIZ UB team quickly coordinated both internally and with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lumajang Regency to identify the urgent primary needs needed.
“Alhamdulillah, BAZIZ UB team went to the location yesterday to distribute aid as well as to map out the urgent stuff needs that we can support in the next days,” said Prof. Imam.
The assistance provided was in the form of food and drinks, masks, children’s stuffs such as milk, blankets, clothes, and others according to urgent needs at the location.
“The humanitarian disaster of Mount Semeru eruption reminds us that social awareness is very important, so we must increase solidarity while praying for the affected victims, and supporting them to be able to return to normal life soon,” said this professor of Agro-industrial Systems and Management Science.
In addition to providing logistical assistance, BAZIZ UB also invites the public to care and donate to victims affected by Semeru eruption, so that it is expected to meet other needs in the field.
“InsyaAllah, BAZIZ UB will distribute it to targeted parties, effective and appropriate manner, so that whatever we donate can provide benefits to the affected victims,” he said.
Prof. Imam hopes that there will be no further eruptions, so that people after going through the rehabilitation process of their homes can return to their respective villages. [Irene/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
