Bazis UB Distributes Assistance in the form of Business Fund for Dhuafa

The Agency of Amil, Zakat, Infaq and Shadaqah Universitas Brawijaya (Bazis UB) distributes revolving business fund assistance for poor people around campus, Sunday (5/12/2021).

This distribution is in collaboration with Tanwir Al Afkar Student Islamic Boarding School. In this distribution, a total of IDR 5,000,000 was distributed to the poor.

Director of Bazis UB, Prof. Dr. Ir Imam Santoso, MP said this activity was carried out to empower the people’s economy, especially for those who have difficulty in funding.

“For the current stage, we first identify 10 people who can get help. Furthermore, if there are still people who need assistance, we can immediately consider increasing the number,” he said.

The man who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP UB) explained that although each person gets an average of IDR 500,000, it can be used as initial capital to develop their business.

“This is also part of our effort to ensure that zakat funds can be channeled to those in need,” said Prof. Imam.

He hopes this program can become bigger. BAZIS UB is ready to continue to provide support, especially since the recipients of assistance are also residents of the campus environment.

“Hopefully this program will be bigger, especially since this program is also run around UB,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the caretaker of Tanwir Al Afkar Student Islamic Boarding School, Akhmad Muwafik Saleh, said that the recipients of the aid funds were members of the recitation congregation that had been conducted by the Islamic Boarding School.

“The recipients are our congregation. Later, we will realize the funds from Bazis UB in the goods needed to open their businesses,” he said.

Interestingly, the first phase of assistance provided by Bazis UB is also planned to be the initial capital for Tanwir Al Afkar Islamic Boarding School to provide capital for other congregations.

“So, we ask 10 people who received this first stage of funds for daily alms. 2000 only per day. If a month is 60,000 per person and there is Rp 600,000 per month. From this alms, we will then return it to the congregation as business capital,” said Akhmad Muwafik.

After the symbolic handover of business fund assistance from Bazis UB to Tanwir Al Afkar Islamic Boarding School, the officers directly verify interviews with prospective recipients of business funds. Then 10 people will be selected who are entitled to receive the funds. (*/UB Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
