Student Work Camp (KKM) participants were officially departed by the Dean today, January 22, 2024, in the front hall of the Dean’s Building, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB).
Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship, Dr.Eng. Ir. Herry Santosa, S.T., M.T., IPM., reported that the Engineering MABA Community Service activity was attended by 607 male and 413 female freshmen.
A total of 1,020 participants will serve in Ketindan Village, Lawang District, Malang Regency, starting on January 22 – 25, 2024. During these four days, new FTUB students will carry out ten programs that have been prepared by the committee.
The ten programs that will be implemented are as follows:
- Road repair (paving) with a 77-meter length and a 6.5-meter width
- Land drainage management
- Bridge Construction Development
- Public street lighting with 10 solar panels
- Tree planting: Tabebuia, Walnut, Genitri, Mundu, Bisbull, Gayam, Cinnamon, and Kepel
- Gardening with ornamental plants.
- Practical Teaching of Biopore Making at SMPN 3 Lawang
- Teaching Practices for Processing Non-Organic Waste at SMPN 3 Lawang
- Socialization of Eco-Enzyme production to residents
- Socialization of making Eco Paving Blocks to TPS and Waste Bank managers
The WD 3 FTUB also said that in its implementation he assured that KKM XLIV would be protected from various physical and verbal violence, protected from bullying, and sexual violence.
Similar things were also conveyed by the Dean of FTUB, Prof. Ir. Hadi Syono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., before sending off 87% of the new students participating in KKM XLIV.
He hopes that the 44th FTUB KKM can provide real outcomes and build the sensitivity, skills, resilience, and wisdom of new students in community service activities.
He emphasized that KKM activities only exist at FTUB. This event has been held for generations to shape character, empathize with problems in society, implement knowledge, socialize, as well as serve society from an early age.
“Participate in this activity happily, take all the benefits, communicate and interact well with friends, seniors, and especially the Ketindan community. Be a student who can put yourself forward. Most importantly, during the activity, take care of your health so that the program can run smoothly and bring benefits to all of us,” he concluded.
After being officially departed by the Dean, the entire committee from students and educational staff helped mobilize the participants to the area in front of the Department of Mechanical Engineering to be departed to the KKM location in two groups. (mic)
