Thursday, (5/12/2024), Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) became the destination for academic activities from leading automotive manufacturers and producers in Indonesia, Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), which held a Guest Lecture at the Prof. Ir. Suryono Auditorium, FTUB Dean Building, on Thursday (4/12).
This event presented two main speakers, namely Erlan Krisnaring Cahyono, Vice President Director of ADM, and Irfan Bachtiar, Production Division Head of ADM. With the main theme “Corporate & Manufacturing Culture”, this guest lecture aims to provide insight and inspiration to students about the latest trends in the automotive industry.
In addition to the guest lecture, ADM also donated Engine & Transmission to FTUB to be used as student research materials.
The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship, Dr.Eng. Ir. Herry Santosa, S.T., M.T., IPM. who expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between the industrial and academic worlds. In his speech, Herry emphasized the importance of synergy between campus and industry to support the development of competent human resources in the era of globalization.
“Activities like this are a bridge for students to understand and get to know one of the best automotive manufacturers and the latest technology that has been applied in society,” said Herry.
Herry also emphasized that the guest lecture from Astra Daihatsu Motor was not only intended for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, but could also be attended by other departments at FT UB considering the development of technology that is increasingly open, developing and related to each other.
Next, entering the first material, Erlan Krisnaring explained the profile of ADM and strategies in facing challenges in the era of sustainable vehicles. He highlighted the importance of technological innovation and efficiency in the production process. Meanwhile, Irfan Bachtiar shared material on leadership, how to be a good leader and maximize the potential that is owned to improve the quality of work in the industrial world.
As a form of real support for the world of education, ADM also donated engine and transmission units to FTUB. This donation was received directly by the Vice Dean III representing the faculty. This unit will be used as a demonstration and practice tool for students, especially in the Mechanical Engineering department.
This guest lecture was attended by hundreds of students from various study programs at FTUB, accompanied by several department leaders who also provided full support for this event. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the many questions asked during the discussion session, reflecting a high interest in technological developments in the automotive sector.
This event is one of FTUB’s concrete steps in strengthening relations with the industrial world. Vice Dean III stated his commitment to continue to collaborate with various national and international companies.
“We hope that this collaboration can continue, not only in the form of guest lectures, but also through internships, joint research, or other programs that provide real benefits for students and industry,” concluded Herry.
With the holding of this guest lecture, it is hoped that FTUB students can be better prepared to face challenges in the world of work, especially in the automotive sector which continues to grow rapidly, as well as providing wider opportunities to learn from leading practitioners. [drn]
