The Vocational Team of the Faculty of Vocational, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), namely Bima British Junior, Aulia Fadli Dewantoro, Renzi Carmelita Jacobus, Hayva Akbaria Binti Rohana, and Hanif Ivan Setyawan won the President’s Award in the 2022 Student Video Contest by Osaka University. These five students are the only representatives from Universitas Brawijaya, who passed as finalists in the international short film competition.
According to Bima, as the team leader, to get this award, he had to compete with participants from abroad. “92 teams from 36 campuses in 15 countries participated in this competition, with very, very extraordinary ideas,” he said. “Preparation for the deadline for one month, with details of the first three weeks for preparation, then the last week for shooting and editing,” said Bima.
Bima also added that he was very grateful, because Vokasinema team he led had defeated Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and IPB, so that they became the only Indonesian representative to win one of four awards from Osaka University.
“The award winners were selected based on originality and creativity. The Vokasinema team brought the mental health issue that attacks young people with a concrete solution called SoulBud, a social media application that prioritizes privacy and is intended for early treatment of mental health problems,” he explained.
To UB students, Bima hopes to continue to excel while he is a student. Bima’s hope for Universitas Brawijaya students is to continue to work and excel as long as they have status as students. “Working hard and praying continuously is a package that needs to be done every day and don’t be separated between one of them,” concluded Bima.
