Being Active in Environment Pioneering Actions, Aura Nuranti Becomes UB Best Graduate

Being active in environmental pioneering actions, led Aura Nuranti to become one of UB’s best graduates.

Being active in environmental pioneering actions, led Aura Nuranti to become one of the best graduates of Universitas Brawijaya (UB). The Faculty of Agriculture (FP) student who graduated on Sunday (26/11/2023) was declared a cum laude graduate and succeeded in achieving a GPA of 3.89 with a study period of 3.5 years.

Since studying at FP, the girl who is familiarly called Aura has been interested in taking part in various activities in the environmental sector, until she won 1st place in the Pioneer Youth of Magetan Regency in the field of Natural Resources, Environment and Tourism in 2023. This victory led her being selected as the 5th best Pioneer Youth in Java Province East.

This girl from Magetan admitted that her pioneering action was motivated by the waste problem in her area, so she took the initiative to form TPS 3R in collaboration with village officials. This community empowerment is also outlined in the final assignment research.

“After successfully managing waste and making derivatives in the form of compost fertilizer, paving from the ashes of burning waste, paving from melted plastic, and maggots as animal feed, I also encourage people to take advantage of digitalization. The hope is that non-governmental groups can sell TPS 3R derivative products online so that they are better known. “And Alhamdulillah, thanks to this empowerment, production is currently being sent outside the city with quite a lot of demand,” explained Aura.

In the tourism sector, Aura and the team created “Kali Kulon Tourism” by offering a beautiful, cool village atmosphere, as well as typical village culinary delights such as tepo tofu, cenil, corn grontol, pecel rice and tiwul rice. In addition, she also formed the “Nawasena Smart House” to facilitate kindergarten to elementary school children to experience learning outside of school by prioritizing character education.

While studying, this badminton lover was also actively involved in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program by doing an internship at PT Syngenta Indonesia, as well as the Sustainable Food Farm program in Madiun Regency, namely empowering Women’s Farmer Groups to cultivate yard land as a sustainable food source.

“During my internship, I gained a lot of new knowledge about the world of agriculture through farmers in Poncokusumo, which increased my understanding,” she said.

Studying at FP has always been her dream. She admitted that she was interested in the fields of food, environment, management, economics and language, all of which are part of agriculture.

“Agriculture will never die because as long as humans live, they will need food from agricultural products,” she concluded. [Irene/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
