AISEC in UB Fight for Abdidaya Ormawa 2024

The AIESEC Student Organization PPK Team succeeded in becoming the only representative of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) who got the opportunity to be visited directly by Reviewers from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa), Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology together with 160 student organization teams from 66 universities throughout Indonesia. The AIESEC Student Organization PPK Team in Universitas Brawijaya has proven itself deserve to advance to the 2024 Abdidaya Student Organization.

Meico Praswinanda, Head of the AIESEC Student Organization PPK Implementation Team in Universitas Brawijaya 2024, said that he had prepared the Belmawa Visitation agenda since the beginning of the team formation.

“Several technical preparations began after the determination of the Candidate Team for Abdidaya Participants. Incidentally, AIESEC in Universitas Brawijaya was the only student organization that passed the Belmawa Visitation stage. We were greatly assisted in preparing the implementation of the visitation by the university. All technical implementations were well coordinated to ensure that all executions ran smoothly,” he said.

The visitation activity was carried out in two series of activities, namely the Entry Meeting and Field Visitation activities. The Entry Meeting activity was held on Wednesday (9/10/2024) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.

The discussion activity was attended by representatives of universities, accompanying lecturers, the PPK Ormawa implementation team, and representatives from Ormawa from three universities in Malang, including Universitas Brawijaya, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, and Malang State University. The Entry Meeting was also attended by visitors, namely Dr. Ir. Ni Luh Gede Sumardani, S.Pt., M.Si. and Belmawa representatives, Mr. Beben.

Each implementation team will be called one by one in turn to hold a discussion regarding the validity of the activities carried out during the implementation of PPK Ormawa 2024. The implementation team also brought several supporting documents needed and a visitation questionnaire. The duration of the discussion was approximately 30-45 minutes.

UB representatives represented by Dr. Noer Rahmi Ardiarini, S.P., M.Si. as Vice Dean III of FP for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship held a discussion with visitors for approximately 20 minutes.

She said that in order to improve the quality of Ormawa, develop soft skills and student competencies, UB provides coaching for Ormawa teams through four stages of the process.

The first stage is preparation in the form of forming a special team, namely the Village Development of Student Built Village Program (PPMPD) team. This team is a management team in helping to increase capacity for students and Ormawa who receive grant funds for community service and empowerment programs.

The task of PPMPD is more towards directing, monitoring, mentoring and evaluating the selected Ormawa PPK team.

This team also has an instrument for monitoring and evaluation carried out by the implementing team, Ormawa functionaries, supervising lecturers and volunteers. This instrument is called the Monitoring and Assessment System (SIMPAN) which functions as a tracking tool for all Ormawa activities.

Moreover, the second stage is supporting activities and commitments that are routinely carried out until the deadline for Abdidaya, in the form of internal socialization, crisis centers or consultation activities (offline or online). Further, technical guidance, consignment, subproposal mentoring and final selection are also routinely held.

“No less important is that UB is committed to providing additional funding for proposals that pass the funding process,” said Noer Rahmi.

In addition to the interview process, the second series of activities, namely the Field Visit, was carried out for two days, namely on (10/10 – 11/10/2024) in Girimoyo Village, Karangploso District, Malang Regency.

The Director of the Student Affairs Directorate, Dr. Sujarwo, S.P., M.P., said that the field visitation carried out by Belmawa was a golden opportunity for the PPK Ormawa AIESEC Team in Universitas Brawijaya.

“The arrival of the Belmawa monitoring team at the AIESEC team’s service location was an effort to see firsthand the readiness to be selected and participate in Abdidaya on the UNUD campus, Bali on (6/11-10/11/2024). For the AIESEC UB team, the arrival of Belmawa is an important opportunity to demonstrate the performance of the program and the strength of the AIESEC team’s collaboration with the community in helping to develop education in village communities. This is a real manifestation of the role of students, through the PPK Ormawa Program, to build benefits in the form of real student work in society,” said Dr. Sujarwo, S.P., M.P.

At the Implementation stage, UB also provides support in the form of facilities to conduct audience concept of program implementation, consolidation of aid recipients, technical guidance of consignment and assistance, crisis center and Brawijaya expo. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
