The International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences or AISEC Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a Global Village celebration activity with the theme “World Odyssey: Finding Cultural Treasure” which was held at Malang Creative Center. The activity, which is still part of the SDGs Project Incoming Global Volunteer Summer Peak 2024, was funded by the Belmawa Directorate in this case PPK Ormawa 2024.
The activity featured AIESEC Global Volunteer program members from four different countries—Tunisia, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Hong Kong—who showed their unique cultural performances and traditional dishes to the attending delegates.
The event was opened by the Expert Staff of the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Affairs and Advisor of UKM AIESEC in Universitas Brawijaya, Ismatul Khasanah, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D.
In her speech, Isma emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and the value of similar events to foster global understanding and unity to achieve peace throughout the world.
Isma said that this activity is one of the most prestigious programs to support the branding of Universitas Brawijaya in the international arena.
Participants who attended this event seemed very happy and appreciative to the cultural performances that existed.
In addition, according to Isma, this event was considered very lively with the opportunity to taste authentic dishes from various countries. Nathanael as one of the participants said that.
“Today’s event is very exciting and educational. It’s amazing to be able to experience so many cultures in one place,” he said.
AIESEC Global Village is not only a celebration of global diversity, but also a bridge for participants to experience direct cultural exchange with exchange participants.
“We hope that this event can be a bridge for delegates to experience direct cultural exchange with exchange participants, thus fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of various cultures,” said Isma.
Overall, Global Village World Odyssey: Finding Cultural Treasure was an amazing event that brought together people from various backgrounds to celebrate and learn from each other’s cultures, marking another successful initiative by AIESEC in Universitas Brawijaya to promote global diversity.
