Aevic Team from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) won the 2nd place in Project Cost Estimation (ESBIPRO) Civilphoria Competition 2021. This national level competition was organized by Lambung Mangkurat University and was participated by 50 teams from various universities throughout Indonesia.
The team, consisting of Evandanendra Akbar, M. Iqbal Naufaldy, and Febri Virgananta S, has participated in a series of competition stages since August 2021, starting from case distribution, proposal submission, until the top five finalists were selected, then presented the proposal, and announcement of the winner on October 10, 2021. .
The competition’s theme was “Cost Estimation of Multi-storey Building Projects”.
Evandanendra as the team leader said that they did not have high expectations to win the competition at first, but then they felt challenged because they got a project case outside Java.
“In this competition, we are required to calculate the estimated cost of a multi-storey building project in Bajarbaru City, South Kalimantan, using the most effective method of construction and implementation scheduling, while maintaining its quality,” said the student who is usually called Evan.
The hard work between members, guidance from the lecturer, Saifoe El Unas, S.T., M.T, as well as thorough preparation, coupled with prayer, said Evan was the main key for Aevic Team to get 2nd place in this competition.
It is undeniable that the Aevic Team also encountered several obstacles when participating in this competition because they had to divide their time with lectures and online coordination.
“It’s quite difficult to divide the time with the class schedule, we also learn many new things that have never been taught in college. So we have to brainstorm often with the supervisor and teammates,” explained Evan.
The 1st place winner in this competition was won by a team from the University of Indonesia, while the 3rd place winner was from Atma Jaya University, Yogyakarta.
Evan advised his fellow students not to hesitate to take part in any competitions.
“Because there will be a lot of new lessons to be learned outside of lectures,” he concluded. [Aevic/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
