Driven to give solution on haze matter that happened almost every year due to forest fires in Kalimantan and Sumatera area, student of Faculty of Computer Science University of Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) creates a smart device that functioned to filter dirty air and named as Automatic Sedot Asap Polusi (A.S.A.P). A.S.A.P. creator, Five Computer System Enthusiast students Year of 2014 are including Bagus Prasetyo, Hedy Pamungkas, Rafi Fajar Hidayat, Fungky Pandu Fantara and Yandra Charlos.
Bagus explained, A.S.A.P. is a smart device that automatically will absorb dirty air or pollutions detected in the air. A.S.A.P. has three sensors functioned to detect haze, carbon monoxide and air temperature. The working of A.S.A.P., after detect pollutions in the air, then the device will actively absorb the air and afterwards filter it in four stages filtration. “Firstly filtration is implemented with foam whose density is quite tenuous, pursued with pre-filter, and then a PreCarbon-Filter and the last is filtered off with high-density level carbon and also functioned to remove odor,” Bagus said.
Not only that, A.S.A.P. is environmental-friendly designed by using solar-cell panel as propulsion source. Furthermore A.S.A.P. excellence in filtered-air quality analysis and afterwards submit the analyzed data to the internet to be accessed by the communities. Thus through the internet, users will able to know pollution level before and after air-filtration. Bagus and his team have made software to access air analysis data for many platforms, such as in form of website, android mobile application named A.S.A.P. apps and also twitter for A.S.A.P.
Due to his work, Bagus along with his team have crowned as the champion in Hardware category at Blue Techno Festival in Bandung on early February. In the big event, Bagus along with his team competed with 16 other teams of various universities in Indonesia such as PENS, ITS, Telkom University and Trisakti University. Nevertheless, Bagus confessed will continuously develop the device and then to be followed again in a bigger event. “We are excited, since initially not expected to grab the first champion. Previously we had only thought for only seeking experiences before join in a bigger competition like GemasTIK or Comfest and PKM,” said Bagus. [dna/Humas UB/trans. Denok]
