A total of 53 fighters from 25 universities in East Java took part in the Provincial Student Sports Week (POMAPROV) championship which was held at Pertamina GOR UB, Friday (25/3/2022).
Member of the Regional Martial art College Council of East Java, Sobari, explained that the 53 fighters consisted of 19 female and 34 male participants.
“For the POMAPROV event, the maximum limit for participants is 23 years old, which is different from POMDA, which is a maximum of 25 years old,” he said.
Therefore, participants will be equipped by several regulations to make it more safety.
Meanwhile, in the POMAPROV championship this time, Sobari said the majority of the featured participants came from universities that have sports study programs such as Unnesa and UM.
“UM and Unnesa that have the most participants this time for around 11 participants. Meanwhile, the next most is UB which sends 6 participants,” he said.
Sobari added that the East Java POMAPROV event this time received extraordinary enthusiasm because every campus wanted to show its fangs. Even campuses that do not have Student Activity Unit or sports study programs also send participants.
To regenerate winners, there are separate regulations for national athletes in this POMAPROV competition.
“It purposes to be a new growth regeneration, especially for the winners. I hope that every campus has UKM fighting degrees and fully supports similar activities so that it can attract people to catch superior athletes,” he said. (OKY/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir).
