A total of 39,842 consisting of 26,814 (67.3 percent) placed UB in the first choice and 13,028 (32.7 percent) chose UB in the second choice.

Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso MP said that the five scientific study programs that were most in demand were medical education, informatics engineering, nursing, pharmacy, and nutrition.

Meanwhile, the five social humanities study programs with the most interest were psychology, accounting, management, law, and communications.

The former Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) said that the number of interested parties in UB is influenced by several factors, one of which is the increasing number of study programs that have been internationally accredited.

“In UB, there are around 60-70 study programs that are internationally accredited, so this is a strong asset from a performance standpoint. In addition, UB location is very strategic, supported by affordable prices for basic necessities for students,” he said.

Meanwhile, the quota for each route determined by UB is 30 percent SNBP, 30 percent SNBT, and 40 percent Independent Selection.

“In accordance with the regulations, if the quota received on the achievement track is not fulfilled, it will be added to SNBT. Likewise, if SNBT quota is not met, it will be added to the independent selection. Even, the quota for the Independent selection cannot be more than 50 percent,” he said.

Responding to the increasing interest in psychology study programs, Head of the Psychology Department Ali Mashuri, S.Psi., M.Sc. Ph.D explained that there were two influencing factors, namely in terms of knowledge and job prospects.

“In terms of science, psychology studies human behavior, which is the main actor in civilization. Psychology can study human emotions and behavior. In terms of job prospects, the field of psychology is very relevant to various fields of work, from industry to government,” he said. (OKY/Humas UB/ Trans. Iir).
