This school lasts for 12 weeks with a curriculum designed to suit the needs of the elderly, namely health and physical performance checks, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, simple medication, health consultations, health education, sports programs for musculoskeletal balance and flexibility, and skills. The skills practiced are making aromatherapy candles, making bento rice, and practicing worship.
“There are 30 elderly people registered and regularly taking part in this activity. “They are very enthusiastic and feel the benefits of joining the Elderly School program,” said Sri Soenarti.
She hopes that what has been taught can be put into daily practice at home and in the community to support a good quality of life, as well as becoming healthy, independent, active and productive elderly people. [SS/Irene/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
