As many as 19 students of Master Program of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Science Brawijaya University on Tuesday (17/Apr/2018) held an excursion by visiting Presidential Staff Office located on Jl. Veteran No. 16 Jakarta Pusat. Attended also on the event, Chairman of Master Program on Communication Science Rachmat Kriyantono, PhD, Expert Staff of Vice Rector on Planning and Partnership Affairs Maulina Pia Wulandari, PhD and Chairman of Doctoral Program on Sociology Dr. Bambang Dwi Prasetyo.

In the visit, students obtained a deeper description on the roles and functions of Presidential Staff Office towards Joko Widodo Governance and the Indonesian People. The presentation related to the Office roles and functions was delivered by The Main Experts of Deputy IV at the Presidential Office Wandy Tuturoong.

"Presidential Staff Office is an important institution directly coordinated under the Presidency," said Wandy. In addition, the Office also applying some substantive and strategic things for the President and its governance.

Chairman of Master Program on Communication Science Faculty of Social and Political Science Brawijaya University Rachmat Kriyantono explained, of the visit, students are expected to know better the description of Presidential Staff Office along with its functions. In addition, Rachmat also mentioned that problems related to government communication are important matters.

"Today political dynamics is very thick which is augmented with the huge roles of aggressive social media, thus we feel that problems related to government communication is an important thing," Rachmat explained.

Rachmat also explained that political communication implemented by Presidential Staff Office is highly intersect with public relations lecture in sub-theme of government PR. Thus, the visit will be beneficial for students to observe directly on how the government runs its public relations functions.

The event is not only limited to a visit, but also as Brawijaya University efforts to stay-in-touch and paving the way for students and lecturers to have apprenticeship or writing research in related with Presidential Staff Office.

One of students Farikha Rachmawati expected by the visit they can know how an issue and crisis management.

"I also want to know how the Presidential Staff Office strategy in political communication, as well as many things related with knowledge we get in campus," he said.
