A Lecturer of FCS UB Became A Representative in Visiting Vocational Colleges in Fukuoka and Osaka Japan

A Lecturer of Japanese Literature Study Program who is also the Head of Languages and Literature Department, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Ismatul Khasanah, M.Ed., Ph.D. became one of the representatives of UB in Vocational Colleges Visits in Japan. The event was held in order to develop International Networking and exploring cooperation with Vocational Colleges and the Stake Holder, i.e. Government of Japan.

The event was followed by seven ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos) which were represented by one or two lecturers for each country with 13 delegates. In addition to strengthen the cooperation with ASEAN countries, the event is expected to expand knowledge of Japanese language teachers in Japan's vocational schools. These schools have many more specific studies, of course with a different system from it is in Indonesia.

On the first day, the delegations are invited to visit the IKK Company engaged in Wedding Organizer. The company is recruiting many foreign students from ASEAN countries, even one of the alumni of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UB is now a part of IKK, which also opened a branch in Jakarta.

The next day, the delegates visited the ASO group, a vocational high school that has many courses such as anime, comics, visual art, hospitality, tourism, and airline. They also had the opportunity to visit Adachi Education, which has culinary, and IT study program.

The second night in Fukuoka was used for dinner and amicable activities by inviting high school vocational officials in Fukuoka. In this event, delegates and vocational high school officials discussed on how to teach Japanese in each country and offer scholarships to study in Japan. In the last visit in Fukuoka, on February 21, they had an opportunity to visit high school vocational schools, which have makeup, haircut and body, care program.

On the 4th day, the event moved to Osaka. The delegates visited Osaka Bio Medical College, a vocational school to get an experience to know each skin type using laboratory equipment. Not only that, they also visited Ecole Umeda, a department of culinary who also has several specialists among others in the field of wedding or party cake making, majoring traditional Japanese cuisine, Chinese, Paris, and others.

In the 5th day, after visiting the technical vocational school (architectural and robotic engineering), the delegates attended the International Symposium attended by more than 200 participants from high schools throughout Japan.
