Opole University Delegate Gives Tips on Academic Writing

Students must often troubled with lecture tasks of writing. Moreover, the graduation requirement is thesis writing. Not only thesis, but capabilities in academic writing is also examined in creating apprenticeship report and scientific paper, journals, scientific articles, research report and so on. Academic writing is used in preparing, creating and modifying academic text.

Stankomir Nicieja, Ph.D, Opole University delegate in the guest lecture on Tuesday (03/Apr/2018) at 7B Floor's Hall mentioned that academic writing technique has more specific audience like lecturers, reviewers, and other people related to the writing. Thus difficult to create because it is read by experts in each of their fields and linguistic capabilities are strongly tested in this writing.

Academic text should be described clearly and objective. "The use of good and correct language should also be applied in academic text," Stankomir pursued.

The use of language should apply special terms to describe special words, using formal language, avoiding informal language, vulgar language, sexist and racist, as well as avoiding the use of jokes because this will only make people do not believe with the academic text we create.

The professor assistant from Opole University also explained that academic text should be equipped with good arguments. Good arguments are obtained from observation, reasoning and research.

Arguments should have proof and objective, not only from the writer's ideas or belief. Ways that can be done to write academic text are describe problems with questions, check out the latest review, brainstorming, collecting materials, organizing, planning, starts writing and the last is evaluation by changing and re-write.

Stankomir also advised that students who want to write in English are not glued on the difficulty of writing in English.
