Targeting International Champion, Vice Rector III Departs UB's Bridge Contingent

Vice Rector III on Student Affairs Brawijaya University (UB) Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Prajitno, MS departed six students of Bridge UKM (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa/Student Activity Units) who will compete in Asia Pacific Bridge Federation Championship, on Thursday (12/Mar/2018).

The six consists of Moch Ginggy Syaiful Aziz (an Agricultural Technology Students 2015), Zona Prayogo (Faculty of Administrative Science 2013), Roda Rimawan (Faculty of Animal Husbandry 2014), Moses Galuh (Faculty Science 2017), Ahmad Jauhari (Faculty of Law 2016), Eko Dedi Pramana (Faculty of Science 2016) will join in a competition held by APBF (Asia Pacific Bridge Federation) Open Youth Championship 2018 in Bogor for seven days (14-20/Apr/2018).

They will compete with other participants of all Asian countries there. Moch Ginggy Syaiful Aziz explained that APBF Open Youth Championships 2018 is the highest bridge competition throughout Asia and will be followed by Australia and New Zealand.

"APBF Championship will match four team numbers and a couple number. The category is based on age, such as junior category U-26, Girls U-26 and Youngster U-21," he said to explain. Ginggy added that in order to join in the competition, there is a selection process based on the results of achievements.

"Coincidentally, we were for four years won the 1st place at the National Championship for four consecutive times in student category. We are really preparing everything in the current competition," said the 2018 Chairman of Bridge UKM.

"This us for the first time we join in international level event. Previously there was an alumni who once went abroad and grabbed the forth world champion. Hopefully we can pursue alumni's footsteps to be the champion," he said to add.

Meanwhile Vice Rector III expressed his appreciation to UB's Bridge UKM team who will have competition internationally.

"My expectation, hopefully Brawijaya University team can be the champion, so that is the target. We not only enliven it, but shall run for target so as we can be the champion, which later will able to influence UB rankings," said Arief Prajitno.
