Spatial Planning Day 2018 is a two-day event to celebrate Urban and 20th anniversary of Regional Planning (PWK) Department of Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB). Raising a theme of "Spatial Planning For Sustainable City", the talk show was focused on the first day while workshop is in the second day. Located in Widyaloka Hall, the event was attended by more than 200 participants including students, professionals, and academicians.

Opening the event, Dr. Ir. Surjono, MTP from PWK Department and the secretary Ir. Ismu Rini Dwi Ari, MT., Ph.D. Also attended the event, all lecturers at the department. In his remarks, Surjono expressed, "hopefully this event can create an interactive discussion that invites experts who can deliver material on the GIS contribution in city planning and development in Indonesia.

In the first day talk show invited Prof. Dr. Ir Budisantoso Wirjodirdjo M.Eng as a Professor in Operational Research of Industrial Modeling Systems at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology Surabaya. Secondly, Lusiana Suwandi, ST from ESRI Indonesia who presented "Integration of GIS and Urban Management". The event is then cut with a break where participants can visit booths provided by the committee outside the hall.

The activity then followed by talk show with Dr. M. Rudi Wahyono, Dipl. Env. Drs.MMA as Executive Director of Centre of Information and Development Studies (CIDES), The Habibie Center. Closing the talk show session, Aria Indra Purnama, ST, MUM, the Director of Spatial Planning at Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning was presented.

The second day was the time for participants to come face-to-face with the GIS software offered. At this event, PWK works directly with ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) Indonesia. ESRI is an international geographic information system software company, Web-based GIS, and geodatabase management.

Workshop sessions were held in Capita Selecta Room in which participants are welcome to access the GIS software offered by ESRI. With this workshop, students can capture how advanced intgration of technology with the latest  territorial management. Thus, students can understand how important information control and management to be used as a regional planning tool.

"In this information era, even data can be collected directly from social media community's posts and have a direct effect on the factors that will appear in the planning. If students do not master on this, how could they able to create up to date planning!" Lusiana from ESRI Indonesia said while delivering the workshop. [emis/mic/Humas UB]
