Brawijaya University maritime Pioneering Expedition

Around 30 students of Brawijaya University who are joined in a team so-called Maritime Pioneering Expedition (EPM) 2018 will participate in an event to build 3T (the foremost, the outermost and the left behind) namely Negeri Kakatua Kecil Jambu Kuning, Masakambing Island. The event was conducted in a framework of thematic KKN (Community Service Program) activities, a collaboration between Research and Community Services Institution (LPPM) Brawijaya University and Pemuda Rintara Community East Java. The community service will be conducted starts from 26 January until 6 February 2018.

As for their purpose to have the expedition is helping the government to accelerate the development of Indonesian maritime in the smallest island, in areas of environmental health, economic development, and education. Working programs for the environmental health to be conducted such as activation of village polyclinic, mangrove database, and conservation of kakatua jambul kuning. In economic development will be conducted such activities as training on creative business, marketing extension of banana crackers and shredded fish, as well as bazaar.

Meanwhile in areas of education, there are three activities to do. The first is inculcate national values and love the homeland with organizing training on flag raising ceremony. The second is English teaching. The third is improving and increasing contents of library which they have established before, namely Rumah Baca KaYa (Kakatua Brawijaya) Chapter 2.

One of participants. Oky Ravenialdy delivered, the event is a follow-up of an event "Ekspedisi Nusantara Jaya" which previously have conducted in August 2017. "While there, what we are going to do are such as teaching the children of Masakambing indigenous people, creating processed products of Masakambing typical foods, with a purpose to improve economical value of the indigenous people, as well as creating social activities that involving indigenous people," said said the 2015 Sociology student at Faculty of Social and Political Science.

In the occasion, the expedition team also invite people to participate in sharing some suntenance in form of donation to buld the nation. The donation can be in form of staple food, stationary, Al Qur'an and prayer tools, books, worthy clothing and cash money. The donation can be submitted until 20 January 2018 to the address Jl.
