Brawijaya University Contributes Six Medals at PDIC 2017

Contingent of Brawijaya University contributed six medals consisting two golds, two silvers and two bronzes from PDIC (Perisai Diri International Championship) 2017 organized in Samamtha Krida building (27/Oct-01/Nov/2017).

Dewani Indah T (Faculty of Economics and Business 2016) won the gold medal on branch of fight team for female IPSI and won silver medal at fight IPSI' s female B class.

Yuda Agung P (Faculty of Agricultural Technology 2013) and Viyan Fitra N. (Faculty of Agriculture 2014) won the silver medal in category of paired guns for male.

Nur Abdillah Khamida (Faculty of Cultural Studies 2015), Putri Sri Utami (Faculty of Agriculture 2015), Anggraeni Ayu (Faculty of Sciences 2012) won the gold medal for the mandatory female arm branch and won the bronze medal in category of female Garuda original technique.

Meanwhile Yunasman Salam (Faculty of Cultural Studies 2011), Dzikri Bela W. (Faculty of Marine and Fisheries 2015), Fahmi Amrullah (Faculty of Agriculture 2014) won the bronze medal in branch of male team weapon combination.

The achievement put East Java contingent in runner up position defeated West Java and East Kalimantan. Meanwhile the first position was achieved by Bali.

PDIC 2017 followed by 436 participants from Australia, East Timor and Indonesia itself. In the competition, Indonesia delegated contingent of 18 provinces.

The competition branches organized in PDIC 2017 were such as free-attack match and tidiness in hand and weapon.

"Several branches to be competed at PDIC are numbers in IPSI (Ikatan Pencak Silat Indonesia/Indonesian Martial Arts Bond) because as well as preparing athletes at National Sport Week next year," said PDIC Head of Convener, Rifqi Anshari.

PDIC is the highest competition in Perisai Diri. The event is an annual agenda from UKM (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa/Student Activities Unit) of Perisai Diri Brawijaya University. Perisai Diri is a sport branch of original Indonesian martial arts which was established in 1955. The sport is gradually spread up to several countries, such as The United States of America, Japan, Australia, and ASEAN countries through its warriors' efforts. [Oky Dian/Humas UB/trans.
