As an effort to keep and improve quality of teaching and learning process, Informatics Engineering Department of Faculty of Computer Science of Brawijaya University (FILKOM UB) held a workshop on Technique of Preparing Semester Study Plan (Rencana Pembelaran Semester/RPS), Saturday (29/Jul/2017). Head of Convener of the event Agi Putra Kharisma, S.T., M.T mentioned the workshop was organized in connection with the enactment of SN-DIKTI based 2016-2020 Curriculum. Attended by the entire lecturers of Informatics Engineering as participants, the workshop was designed in such a way to provide provisions to participants on RPS arrangement technique and practice it directly in cases of courses taught directly by each lecturer. The speaker on the occasion was Drs. Unggul Pundjung Juswono, M.Sc as e senior lecturer at Physics Department of Faculty of Natural Science.

Opened the first session on RPS arrangement technique, Drs. Unggul delivered that basic knowledge in related with RPS are including important documents on learning which are a combination of GBPP (Garis Besar Program Pembelajaran/Outline of the Learning Program) and SAP (Satuan Acara Pengajaran/teaching unit). RPS is then will be the reference on the formulation of the objectives and subject matter of the course content and learning method to achieve the expected competencies. RPS itself should contains of some important points. The first is a brief description on courses explaining the importance of the course to learn by the students. The second is General Instructional Objectives (Tujuan Instruksional Umum/TIU) namely a description of the extent of the competency owned by students who have accomplished the course in question.

"Competence should fulfill one or partially of cognitive, psychomotor and affective aspects. Should not be forced in each course must contains the all three. Could be one or two, depend on the kind of the course," Dr. Unggul explained.

After the General Instructional Objectives accomplished, then the third point was formulated namely what needs to be given and so students join in the course able to fulfill competencies determined. The forth is what kind of learning strategies will be implemented, such as holding lectures, practice, case study, structured tasks or independent tasks.

The fifth is Special Instructional Purpose namely about specific competence obtained by students in each topic of discussion. The sixth is evaluation namely description on weighing of assessment on each evaluation method used such as midterm exam, assignments and quizzes, and final exams. The seventh point is the details of the library to be used in lesson.

Of the various important points, then RPS table is made contains of a more detailed breakdown of each topic lesson plan given in each week. The table contains of on which week the material will be given, Special Instructional Purpose, subjects, sub subject, estimated time required, the form of teaching selected such as lecture and discussion, media and required supporting library.

In the second session, participants were divided into some groups based on the course they teach. Then each group is assigned to arrange RPS of the course in question and to be presented afterwards. In the arrangement of the RPS course, participants remained to be accompanied and got directions from Drs. Unggul. Moreover in presentation session of RPS arrangement result, participants also obtains several improvement inputs from Drs. Unggul as the speaker. Hopefully knowledge they obtained from the workshop can be implemented in the daily learning system at FILKOM, Informatics Engineering Department in particular. [dna/Humas UB/trans.
