Approaching the end of the year 2018, Brawijaya University is back to achievement. Currently, a series of achievements are reached by studentship affairs in an event so-called Ajang Anugerah Kemahasiswaan (Event for Students Awards) by Directorate General of Learning and Studentship, Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education on Thursday until Saturday (13-15/Dec/2018).

In the event, Brawijaya University achieved predicate as the best II on Studentship Achievement in 4.0 industrial revolution era by Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education following Gadjah Mada University in position I and the best II on student achievement at 4.0 industrial revolution era for non-Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education/independent overtaking University of Indonesia at third position.

Vice Rector III on Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Prajitno, MS mentioned the location of the differences between the two groups. "The Ministry groups means competition held by Directorate General of Higher Education as its working program, both national and international. Such as Pimnas and Peksiminas. While non-ministry means all competitions followed outside of Directorate General of Higher Education as the organizer. All the competitions are reported to the Ministry via Simkatmawa (Sistem Informasi Manajemen Pemeringkatan Mahasiswa/Management Information System on Student Rankings) application," he explained.

"The award is included to the greatest one. Next year should be the champion," he axplained. In order to reach the first position, according to Arief, we shall prioritize national and international level competition to join in. "Since the last two years, it has socialized that fostering student activities units will remained to do and will be focused on competition, as an effort to improve achievement. For instance, there is a research on student innovation, that is what we will boost," said the lecturer at Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science.

Arief also recommended to be selective in choosing the competition participants. "As the host, then the participant is addressed for inter-universities and or third-grader high school students or in equal. The third grader class is aimed at regeneration of the next members of student activities unit," Arief ended. [Vicky/Humas UB]
