Aresto together with Lecturers of Jurusan Sistem Informasi Fakultas Ilmu Komputer(JSI FILKOM) Lecturers invited IT auditor professionals to share their knowledge on Friday (10/5/2019). This event aims to provide broad insights on various professions after completing studies in Information Technology (IT), Information Systems Department (JSI), Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya.

He is Aresto Yudo Sujono, CISA, CGEIT, a professional with more than 12 years experience in the field of IT audit, IT Risk Management and IT Governance. Aresto is trusted to be a speaker in guest lectures on the topic "The Role of IT Auditors in the Success of Good Corporate Governance".

This activity was held in the multimedia room, FILKOM UB's 12th floor F building which was attended by 360 JSI students who were pursuing Information Systems Evaluation and Audit courses. Armo explained that there were several reasons why IT auditing was important.

First, with IT auditing, it can drive cost savings and increase business growth with transformation.

The transformation in question is the transformation from a traditional system to a digital business that is more efficient, effective, professional and highly competitive.

In addition, IT auditing can also help manage the type of risk that is able to overcome the complex rules faced by the company. The IT audit scope delivered by Aresto is divided into two, namely IT General Control and IT Application Control.

IT general control is an IT control process whose scope covers the general environment in which the application operates. Its usefulness is to guarantee that the functions and processes of the application can operate correctly throughout the financial period.

The type of IT general control includes the development and change of applications, access to applications, data, and operational applications.

Meanwhile IT application control is an IT control process whose scope is limited to specific applications. Its usefulness is to provide assurance that application-specific functions and processes can operate correctly at certain times. Examples of IT application control include billing processes in telecommunications companies and division of authority in the application.

Aresto in the question and answer session suggested that IT graduates who are interested in pursuing careers as IT auditors should begin their careers by joining audit companies. If possible, it would be very good to be able to join the big four audit companies, namely KPMG, Ernst & Young (EY), Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). If it is still difficult to join companies - these companies can start with a smaller but reputable audit company.

Meanwhile, to take special IT auditor certification can be done if you already have experience in the field for at least five years. Because more certification exam material comes from the practice in the field.[dna/translated by Chika/Humas UB]
