Seriosa and Dangdut solo vocal singing contest took part in enlivening the second day of Inter Faculty Student Art Week (PEKSIMA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in 2014 on Sunday (20/4).

Seriosa category contest took place at the banquet room, sixth floor of Rectorate building and followed by 16 participants. The participants were required to sing compulsory songs, "Lagu Biasa" for male participants and "Desaku" for female participants. Meanwhile for Dangdut category, which took place at UB Studio, both male and female participants must sing one compulsory song and one mandatory optional song. There were 16 participants in total who participated in the Dangdut singing contest.

After the performance of each participant, finally the three judges decided the winners in each category. In Seriosa for male category, the first place won by Alfredo Augustinus from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) with the score of 71. The second place won by Tony Aldo Aprilinno from Faculty of Medicines (FK) with score of 70 and the third place was achieved by Insan Khairin Rahim A. from Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) with score of 68.

The winner of first place in female category was achieved by Alphiano Hievena K. from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) with score of 74. The second place won by Regina Putri Gita Shenika from Faculty of Medicines (FK) with score of 70 and third place was won by Nisa Susnanda Hidiar from Faculty of Fishery and Marine Sciences (FPIK) with score of 68.

In Dangdut, for male category the first place won by M. Rizky N. with the acquisition score of 1301 from Faculty of Fishery and Marine Sciences (FPIK). The second place won by Dharma Sucipto whose score is 1237, a representative of Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP). The third place won by Dwi Pardianto with 1123 points, a representative of Faculty of Administration Studies (FIA).

The first place of female category won by Ayu Winda with the score 1414 points, a representative of Faculty of Culture Studies (FIB). The second place won by Zeli Wahyuningsih with 1339 points, a representative of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), while the the third won by Naila Alfi N with the score 1320 points from Faculty of Engineering (FT).

The judges said that singing requires mastery of the material. So that when we are singing, it does not like memorizing the song. In addition to that, singing is not only chanting a song but there must be improvisation in it. Hopefully, the winners could further improve their singing technique in order to be ready to face the upcoming PEKSIMINAL. [rian/translate by Ratih/Yasmeen]
