In modern era, mosque is not only as a place of worship. A mosque can be one of the places which can improve the economy of a country. In European countries, mosque can be a various kinds of knowledge centers or a place to learn such as student center, library, public places which can be visited by the public, or become one of the Islamic-themed art galleries either the architectures or trinkets in it. Even today, the construction of mosques also growing rapidly with various supporting facilities which can attract people's attention. That explanation was expressed by Prof. Dr. Ali Aziz M.Ag to the entire academic community in Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in interactive sermon in Raden Patah Mosque of UB.

Along with all the leaders of UB and the students, Raden Fatah Mosque was finally inaugurated by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yugi Sugito on Wednesday (4/5). The mosque which still in under construction, is expected not only be used as a place of worship, but can be a place to communicate, learning spot for students and religious services facility. "At least, it takes two years to complete the Raden Fatah Mosque into a beautiful place of worship like our campus," Prof. Yogi said.

This mosque which has three floors will be equipped with 14 classrooms to support religious education learning process for UB students. In addition, supporting facility that can help the community in UB in the field of religious will also be built. "Essentially, it makes the mosque atmosphere not only religious but also convenient for all people," he said.

The inauguration was marked with cutting a ribbon and signing in inscription. Then proceeded with the direct observation of mosque's infrastructure and sermon and interactive dialogue. In the sermon, Prof. Ali Aziz hopes by the construction of Raden Fatah Mosque, the insight of students and community in UB can improve. Improve in the meaning of able to read the religious insight with the knowledge and broad perspective. So that there will be no emergence of Islamic community that are skeptical of their surroundings. The professor of Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya also advised that later Raden Fatah Mosque can be used or visited by the whole society. "As in the modern mosques, a mosque is not intended merely for Muslims only, but non-Muslims can visit the mosque to know, learn, and interact with Islam. Moreover, UB is a place that filled with intellectual people, learning process and education is not an obstacle even there are differences in belief. It can actually be a reflection of the UB campus life," he said. [indra]
