Kepala BKKBN dan Wakil Rektor II UB Usai Penandatanganan MoU
Brawijaya University and BKKBN (Badan Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana Nasional/National population and Family Planning Agency) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Thursday (24/Aug/2017), at sixth floor Faculty of Medicine's building. Manuscript of the cooperation signed directly by Head of BKKBN dr. Surya Chandra Surapat, M.PH., PhD and Vice Rector on Finance and Administration Affairs Dr. Sihabudin, SH., MH. The partnership which will be conducted are including development on Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in framework of Program of Population, Family Planning and Family Development.

Represented Brawijaya University Rector, Dr. Sihabudin, SH., MH delivered, the partnership is beneficial to both parties, either for BKKBN in running the national mandate, as well as for Brawijaya University in graduating specialists who has specific expertise. Brawijaya University and BKKBN also has a partnership initial to establish a Study Centre on Reproduction Health at Brawijaya University and a training on Pre-service of Family Planning. He expected the partnership could be beneficial for development of medical science.

Head of BKKBN visit to Brawijaya University as well as to welcome the 7th generation of 12 prospective consultants on Social Obstetric Gynecology (Obstetri Ginekologi Sosial/OBGINSOS) of Faculty of Medicine of Brawijaya University. Head of Medical Study Program of Sub-Specialist on Social Obstetric Gynecology of Brawijaya University Dr. dr. Edi Mustofa, SpOG-K delivered, OBGINSOS is a division in Obstetric and Gynecology that specifically pay attention on the problem of accelerated decline on Maternal Mortality which recently is still very high. In order to obtain OBGINSOS consultant (SpOG-K) degree, must go through the sub-specialist (Sp-2) education. The length of this program is four semesters or two years.

"A Specialist on Obstetric and Gynecology is not merely demanded for improving women's life quality by merely clinical approach oriented, but also through a holistic approach which is life-cycle approach. Therefore, a professional expertise is necessary in OBGINSOS area which able to handle cases, problems, programs, trainings, and research which related with aspects of epidemiology managerial, ethics and social and areas of obstetric, gynecology, and reproduction health," said Edi Mustofa.

Until recent, Sub-specialist of OBGINSOS of Brawijaya University has graduated 41 DSOG-K. Meanwhile, Head of HOGSI (Himpunan Obstetri dan Ginekologi Indonesia/Association of Indonesian Obstetric and Gynecology) Malang dr. Mulyo Hadi Sungkono, SpOG-K presented the strategic role of OBGINSOS consultant. They are including  to become a part of decision making conducted by Local Government in which they assigned, to become a clinical trainer for health workers, make efforts to increase in quality of service in areas of reproduction health from primary level until reference, help out the analysis in every maternal mortality audit, as well as a competent surveyor on hospital accreditation, and so can assist to improve hospital's quality of service.
