Taking place at Singhasari Hotel Batu on Thursday (08/Nov/2018) will be organized a South East Asia International Conference in theme of Population and Health. The conference that is planned as biennial is initiated by two universities in Indonesia and The United Kingdom namely Brawijaya University Malang dan University of Portsmouth. The organizing was carried out by Research centre of International Collaboration, Portsmouth-Brawijaya Centre for Global Health, Population and Policy as the host. The event is first international meeting in regional level organized by Brawijaya University of Malang and University of Portsmouth The United Kingdom.

The regional conference is also supported by BKKBN (Badan Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana Nasional/National Population and Family Planning Agency) as one of the main sponsor, along with Brawijaya University, University of Portsmouth, and British Council.

Raising a topic of Population and health in South East Asia, the international conference is intended to be a means of discussion, collaboration, and partnerships among academician and practitioner who raise an issue related to population and health including issue on economy, disease and fertility, migration as well as diversity.

More than 250 participants are expected to join in the international conference, consisted of many parties i.e. expert group, goverment representatives, delegates of mass organization, as well as academician who are expected to be able to create a discussion on population and health in South East Asia.

South East Asia is a regional area consisted of 11 countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Phillipines, Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand which has total population of 750 million ones. The number is almost equal with Europe's population numbers. The eleven country has population level differences of which Indonesia is the most densely populated country with population of 263 million people and Brunei Darussalam is a country with the least population, namely less than 1 million people.

With the diverse of population density level as well as demography condition at each country, then it is necessary to establish an organization or forum to discuss population and health in South East Asia. Th organization is expected to be a means for demography and health researchers in South East Asia to discussthe the future issue and challenges and working together to find solutions for population and health condition in South East Asia.
