A visit by French Language and Literature to Institute Francais Surabaya

For several times, France Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS), Universitas Brawijaya (UB) visited the Institut Français d'Indonesie Surabaya or is commonly known as IFI Surabaya. Institut Français is the official language center of the French Republic. It has several branches in several cities. In East Java, IFI is located in Surabaya.

IFI opens their French Language course for public. By taking a French Language course at IFI, students will receive international standard language training. Purposes and subject matter of learning are based on the Common European Terms of Reference for Languages (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence pour les Langues/CECRL) that set up language competencies for foreign language learning: listening comprehension, speaking skills, reading comprehension and writing skills.

All these competencies are studied in six levels (beginner: A1 & A2; intermediate: B1 & B2; advanced: C1 & C2). The output of French Language lesson is an official international DELF/DALF certificate that has lifetime validity. DELF/DALF itself is an international French Language test, which will be held three times a year in a particular month. Students of French Language and Literature especially in FCS UB must pass with minimum requirement DELF level B1.

This synergy has been started since the beginning of French Language and Literature Study Program FCS UB was established. One form of the synergies of French Language and Literature Study Program FCS UB with IFI Surabaya is in the implementation of DELF/DALF test. The test is commonly held in Malang city at SMAN 1 Malang. Another form of the synergy is professional relations. Some of French Language and Literature's graduates are working in IFI Surabaya, both in pedagogies and administration. IFI also provides special room for some internship students from French Language and Literature Study Program UB.

Furthermore, IFI and Campus France often help offering goodie bag for some event held by French Language and Literature's students of FCS UB, for example "Bon Courage!!" event. We hope that this excellent cooperation is eternal. Merci beaucoup! Thank you so much! (Shara/Binda/DT/MSH/PSIK FIB)
