Faculty of Administrative Science is The Host for a Workshop on Finalization of KKNI on Indonesian Library and Information Science Cluster

Study Program of Library Science along with Indonesian Association of Higher Education Provider Library and Information Science (Asosiasi Penyelenggara Pendidikan Tinggi Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi Indonesia) held a workshop on finalization of KKNI (Kerangka Kurikulum Nasional Indonesia/Indonesian National Curriculum Framework) on Indonesian Library and Information Science Cluster (Archives, Library and Information Science, Information Science), Monday (08/May/2017). Speakers in the current event were Head of KKNI DIKTI Team Megawati Santoso, PhD and lecturers of Postgraduate Program on Information and Library Management at Gadjah Mada University.

The event held in 4th floor of A building Faculty of Administrative Science of Brawijaya University consisted of two sessions in which the entire event series start in the morning until the evening. The first session was in form of KKNI curriculum presentation. In the event, Ida Fajar Priyanto, MA., PhD exposed the fundamental difference between Information Science which focus on information content and Library Science which more focused on document management and packaging. Meanwhile Megawati Santoso, PSh delivered issue on accountability of higher education on Library and Information Science.

The main prerequisites at each institution or faculty in study program establishment is to pay attention on autonomy and accountability principles. Accountability means faculty's responsibilities to the parents of students who entrust their children to be educated. Awareness to produce graduates that in line with the need of users and jobs which are emphasized also in the explanation of KKNI DIKTI team. In addition to keynote speaker, the event also invited other speakers such as a Professor on Library Science of University of Indonesia Prof. Sulistyo Basuki, MA., PhD; An expert on Archives of University of Indonesia Anon Minarni, MIM. Arc./Rec.; and APTIPI Head who also a lecturer at Library and Information Science of Padjadjaran University Dra. Wina Erwina, MA.

The event then pursued with a discussion among coaches and expert practitioners. Hani Qonitah, MIMS as Exxon Mobil Information Specialist opened the session and delivered archives system in Exxon Mobil. Exxon Mobil is a foreign investment company thus system being implemented is not only notice Indonesia filling system, but also its native country filling system, namely Texas, The United State of America. Pursued by Dra. Opong Sumiati, M.Si from Centre of Librarian Development at National Library of the Republic of Indonesia who delivered issues on library and librarian, The purpose of National Library of Republic of Indonesia presence, and UU No. 43 Tahun 2007. Not to miss, Chairman of Indonesian Librarianship Professional Association such as Farli Elnumeri, M.Hum from ISIPII (Ikatan Sarjana Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi/Scholars Bond on Library and Information Science), Budi from ATPUSI (Asosiasi Tenaga Perpustakaan Sekolah Indonesia/Indonesian School Library Labor Association), Johan A.E. Noor, PhD from FKP2TN (Forum Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/State University Library Association), Alberto Pramukti from FPPTI (Forum Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia/Indonesian Colleges Library Forum), and Faizudin Harliansyah, MIM from APPTIS (Asosiasi Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam/Islamic Religious College Library Association).

The event that involved study programs/departments from Indonesian Information Science Cluster (Archives, Library Science, Information and Information Science), Indonesian Librarianship Experts, and Indonesian Librarianship Professional Association, at the end of session, produced KKNI's final decision. It was affirmed by APTIPI which will submit a set of drafts to help arrangements of KKNI on Information Science cluster and will be authorized by DIKTI this year. {Hendrawan/Humas UB/trans.
