Beating of the drums to mark the opening of 30th PIMNAS 2017
Makassar - The 30th PIMNAS (Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional/The National Student Scientific Week) in 2017 was officially opened by Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs of Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education Prof. Intan Ahmad in Wednesday (23/Aug/2017) in Al Jibra Auditorium Courtyard of Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar. Along with the Governor of South Sulawesi Syahrul Yasin Limpo and UMI's Rector Prof. Masrurah Mokhtar, the 30th PIMNAS was officially opened by beating of the drums.

In report of 30th PIMNAS Head of Convener Prof. Ahmad Gani mentioned that this year PIMNAS was followed by 89 universities throughout Indonesia either public or private, with the number of students reached 1,845, 420 supervisors and hundreds of official team. The 30th PIMNAS itself will last for four days start from Wednesday until Friday (23-26/Aug/2017).

Meanwhile UMI's Rector, Prof. Dr. Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar, in her remarks mentioned that by the existence of PIMNAS, Indonesian students are expected to be able to evaluate the extent of his ability.

"This will become an advantage for each college that participated in the event. As they will able to see the extent of their students' capabilities," she explained.

In the event, Brawijaya University Rector Prof. Mohammad Bisri also came for procession of Adhikarta Kertawidya trophy handover as the Defending Champion towards Prof. Intan Ahmad as Dikti representative to be contested again.

The opening ceremony itself took place quite lively. It was opened with reading of Al Qur'an and praying and pursued with various art performances by students of UMI Makassar. Parade of traditional dresses and flags defile by the participants ended the recent PIMNAS opening ceremony. [ronny/Humas UB/trans. Denok]
