59 Students of Specialist Doctor Education Program Enrolled

59 new students of Specialist Doctoral Program were inaugurated by Vice Rector I UB in rectorate building on Wednesday (27/04). They will attend specialist doctor education in Medical Faculty and practice in Saiful Anwar hospital, Malang.

As reported by the Head of Specialist Doctor Education Study Program dr. Arief Iskandar, the new students have chose 12 specialization study program from 13 available program, they are: Obstetric Gynecology (7 students); Child Healthk (8 students); Internal Disease (8 students); Eye Health (6 students); Lung (1 student); Ear, Nose, and Throat (3 students); PK (1 students); Emergency Medicine (4 students); Radiology (1 student); Orthopedi (3 students); PS Neurology (4 students); Cardiology (6 students); Anestesi (5 students); and PS Skin and Genital (2 students).

In his speech, Vice Rector I UB Prof. Bambang Suharto expects students of PPDS to not only learn medical skill, but also good communication among doctor and patient. The same thing is also conveyed by the director of RSSA Dr. dr. Basuki Bambang Purnomo, communication between doctor and patient is very important because medical service is not only taken as medical service. "It is possible that communication is also important to reduce misunderstanding between hospital and patient. All doctors must learn about this," he said.

The dean of UB Medical Faculty Dr. dr. Karyono Mintaroem said, aside from communication, other thing that should also be considered in hospital education is adhering rules and procedures. "In hospital, there are many rules that should be adhered. Aside from learning medics, you must also learn to adhere every SOP (Standard Operational Procedure)," he said. He also said that the skill learned by every doctor will be a consideration for the every doctor to be placed in hospitals after they are graduated. [fjr]
